Steve Taylor holds an A.A.S. degree in Architectural Engineering and is a member of the International Code Council (ICC) and the National Association of Certified Home Inspectors (NACHI).  Each organization conducts a certification process which includes inspection experience verification and a written examination.  NACHI also requires its members to adhere to a strict code of ethics and standards of practice.  Steve is a former State of Maryland and State of Florida Building Inspector and Florida Building Official.  He also holds a certification on Disaster Response Housing Inspection given by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Steve is a Florida Licensed Home Inspector, having qualified for the license due to his extensive certification background and experience in the field. He has been licensed since implementation of the law.

For several years Steve served on the Board of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI), Florida – At Large Chapter, and for two of those years held the position of President. While serving as President of the Chapter Steve traveled to the state capitol in Tallahassee multiple times while the house and senate were in session. The time spent there allowed Steve to represent all Florida Home Inspectors and assist the legislature and governmental department heads to work through implementation of the 2009 Florida Home Inspector licensing law. In addition, Steve is currently the President of the 1st Coast Chapter of the National Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI).

After completing his education in 1991, Steve designed and built several homes on the Eastern Shore of Maryland before accepting the position of Building and Housing Inspector for the City of Sailsbury, Maryland. In April 1997, Steve opened Taylor Inspection Services, Inc. in Sailsbury, Maryland and still maintains an affiliation with Taylor and Associates there today. In May of 2000, he joined the staff of the City of Fernandina Beach Community Development Department as a Building Inspector. In December of 2000, Steve accepted the position of Building Official for Fernandina Beach where he worked until June of 2002 when he opened his second location for Taylor Inspection Services, Inc. in Fernandina Beach, Florida.

Maria graduated from Salisbury State University in Salisbury, Maryland with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) with a minor in Biology. Her work experience, before and after her degree, is diversified and includes Commercial Real Estate Management, the Environmental, Health & Safety field and five years at a law firm in the early 80’s. While her background is diverse, we believe it is well suited for the real estate inspection and consulting field. Her business skills and management abilities will allow Taylor Inspection Services to grow and continue to deliver the outstanding and expanding services that its’ clientele have come to expect.

Over the years Maria managed a portfolio of multi-unit industrial properties and developed multi-million dollar operating budgets for property owners while working in the commercial property management field. During her EH&S tenure she worked in environmental sampling & reporting as well as occupational safety & health issues, spill prevention & control, and regulatory compliance. Working with quality management principles allowed her to improve quality of service and customer satisfaction in all aspects of her employer’s business management systems. In May of 2013 Maria joined Taylor Inspection Services, Inc. full time to focus on customer service, marketing and business development.
